It's post Christmas time. I don't know about you but there's always a sense of let down the next day. The anticipation and build up to Christmas seems to make so much more out of the day then what is really delivered. It is a constant struggle of mine to keep my mind focus on the real reason for Christmas, to keep the wonder alive of who Jesus Christ really is and what it means for us as humans.
He is our Lord, our Saviour, our Messiah. He, in all His heavenly glory, perfect and holy beyond measure, loved us so much and humbled Himself to become a tiny helpless baby. He laid aside His power and became man. He grew up, struggled, and at some point recognized that His life would be laid down and sacrificed in love of a human race that despised and rejected Him. His love is perfect, and the salvation that He offers comes with no conditions except faith and belief in who He is and what He did on the cross. The simplicity of it is astounding and so hard for us to grasp. Why would an infinite, perfect, holy God love us? What have we done to deserve this? The answer is nothing. We can offer nothing to God. We are sinful, He is perfect, and yet, He loves us. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast" - Ephesians 2:8-9. All it takes to know Him is to have faith, believe and love Him with all your heart, soul, mind and strength!
Thank you Lord, for who You are and who You are making me - Amen.
