Our Smooth River Rafting Trip

I have finally gotten around to scanning in our rafting trip photos. I did not take my big digital camera on the rafting trip and instead opted for two waterproof disposable cameras. These pictures really make me appreciate the quality you get with the digital cameras! While on vacation in Arizona we took a smooth water rafting trip on the Colorado River. The trip started at the Glen Canyon dam right by Lake Powell and went 15 miles down river to Lees Ferry. We had to wear hard hats on the way down to where we got onto the rafts because there was a huge bridge with a highway overhead!

Our trip was in the afternoon and it was hot! Our rafter's name was Christy and she made sure we were drinking plenty of cold water and lemonade and that we dipped our shirts, etc in a bucket of cold water to stay cool.

The beauty of the canyons was just amazing. My favorite part was going through Horseshoe Bend!

The picture below is courtesy of the Internet! Just wanted you to get an aerial view!

Masamo liked squirting a squirt gun someone else on the raft lent him. David was all over the boat, climbing around and schmoozing with anyone he could. Ella loved looking at all the different kinds of rocks there were and Emily enjoyed sunning herself!

Almost halfway through we stopped at a small "beach" where we could take a break look at some petroglyphs left by some native americans hundreds of years ago. Jason and David took advantage of this break and went into the water (over their heads) which was 47 degrees! It took my breath away at how cold the water was, I could only stand to stick my feet in for a few seconds at a time!

Overall it was a great time and everyone enjoyed themselves. No one got sunburned and everyone said they'd go again if given the chance!
