Time at the fair

Most of this past Sunday was spent at the local county fair. Emily, as she more and more frequently is now a days, was at a friend's house when we ventured to the fairgrounds. Jason was very excited about the demolition derby and introducing Ella and David to their first taste of redneck entertainment. They enjoyed the beginning of the derby when all 21 cars were driving around smashing one another but lost interest as the sun grew hotter and the moving cars dwindled. Jason decided to stay and watch a couple of other derbies happening and I took the kids to see the farm animals. I think their favorite parts were holding baby chicks that fell asleep in our hands and feeding a horse grapes, at the suggestion of the owner. After about 3 hours at the fair we left feeling very hot and tired but satisfied that our time was well spent.

Watching what the local rednecks do for fun (Jason wishing he was one of them)!

I like the story. I remember going to a demo derby in the summer of 1998 before I went to Centre with you, Jason, Frank, and Emily. Pretty strange to think that was nine years ago. Seems that summer has arrived in earnest here... upper 90's every day!! Just in time for football season.
